Passauer Höllengeister, Hilgartsberger Burgweihnacht

"Perchtentreiben" is an old tradition in Bavaria and Austria and it’s done around Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Long ago people thought the Perchten would supervise working and feeding, but also cast out the winter.
